Hey,

To quicken the beginning, I'm requesting "Starting Packs"(I don't mean item Starting Packs). Player will be given an opportunity to choose his own settings or choose a pack created by players of the campaign. These packs contains everything else than the difficulty and resoures from saves).

A few very important things you should know:

- Max 1000 letters(Warcraft III limit with ability descriptions). Check your letter count here: http://www.mylettercounter.com/
- Take example of my set.
- To view the newest abiliites check this topic or wait for a new version first to come.
- The ones that looks good enough will be added to the campaign.
- The format is not just there yet. We'll see how this moves on and updates may come to the format.
- This not just about the abilities but also the items.

Spoiler (hover to show)

Very interesting. I will have to put some thorough thought into this.

General's Badge: It makes Phodom use the casting animation instead of idle/wait animation.
...What? It's an item.

Yes it is an item. However, if Phodom picks up the item, he uses the casting animation.

So in other words, if you look at Phodom when he is standing still and doing nothing, that animation is the idle/wait animation. Now had Phodom cast a spell, that animation is the casting animation. Instead of using the idle/wait animation after he picks up General's Badge, he begins using the casting animation.

Crown of Magic doesn't reset the count. After the first four spells, it will also send out an AoE heal and damage. It can also be passed between heroes and keep the count amount.
This is an item... What's the problem? Item problem?

Yes it is an item, the problem is the coding for the item. The description says that every 5th spell, it will heal allies around the caster, and damage enemies around the caster. But, instead after the 4th spell cast, it will always heal, and always damage with every cast; Instead of requiring casting 5 more spells to get the same effect.

It can be dropped, it can be given to other heroes, and it will still heal and damage with every cast. So the spell count isn't being reset.

Spinning death does not have a De-activator. It can only be stopped if Phodom runs out of mana, or is sent another command (such as casting another spell, moving, holding position, ect).
That's how it is done.

Then the description needs to change. It states that it's type is "Activated/Deactivated". When I think of that, I am thinking of an auto-cast, such as frost arrows; Right click, and it's activated or right click again and now it's deactivated.

What I mean by the frost arrows example, is that I am able to turn it on or off with just one action. I do not have to do more than one action to change it from on to off. No moving of the character, nor telling the character to stop, or cast another ability. Just right click, it's on, right click it's off.

So for Spinning Death, I'm expecting to be able to click it, and it turns on, and then click it again to turn it off.

Alright, so I finished testing a bit. And here is what I have found.

Shield of fire: Does not have a visual effect. Or an indication that it is active.

General's Badge: It makes Phodom use the casting animation instead of idle/wait animation.

When picking Phodom's ultimate, "Animal War Training" is one of the icons that can be picked.

Crown of Magic doesn't reset the count. After the first four spells, it will also send out an AoE heal and damage. It can also be passed between heroes and keep the count amount.

Headbutt doesn't seem to take away 10% of max health from current health on cast.

Spinning death does not have a De-activator. It can only be stopped if Phodom runs out of mana, or is sent another command (such as casting another spell, moving, holding position, ect).

Hahaha, I'm sorry.  ;D Like I said, I enjoy those kind of situations. So I tend to get real in depth in it.

Now this is where I have a lot of fun.

What you are referring to, is not actually against the rules of the forum. You are talking more about a general code of conduct. Which is to be used everywhere.

However, if something is keeping someone under pressure out of fear of judgement; That is on the line for breaking a rule. While it can be considered unfriendly by one person, it can be considered another view point from another person.

So for an example, say I were to criticize people for misspelling words, or using improper punctuation, a lot of people would considered that unfriendly. Where as from my point of view, I would be trying to help those people fix their mistakes and better their writing. There could be others that see it from my point of view as well, but there wouldn't be many.

And so now, if you were to report me for my criticization*1, I could turn that onto you for being unfriendly. That could be done because now you are singling me out, and "falsely accusing" me.

Now we both are in trouble, and there is more on you than there is on me. Because now, not only are you being unfriendly, you are also attacking me. However, this is just from my point of view. From your point of view, you are wondering what you have done wrong, and are trying to defend yourself.

Because these types of things are on the line of going against the rules, they are hard for moderators and admins to judge.

Now with the fun part out of the way, the solution(s).

My favorite solution one could take to resolve this matter, is to send a private message to the person that is causing the pressure. Ask them kindly to rephrase the way they criticize. And repeat this up to three times total. After that, you take it to a moderator and then let them handle it. If it still continues, you would talk to the same moderator again about it, and discus what to do from there. It should never become public unless the moderator(s) or admin makes it public.

Another thing that one could do, is learn to ignore it/not let it bother you. If for what ever reason you cannot do this, then either try talking to the person, or go to a moderator.

The final solution would be to take it straight to a moderator.

Now, I would like to note, that these are solution I've seen work out for the best of everyone. And as you can see, for the most part, the problem never goes public unless someone of higher authority brings it to the public.

That actually benefits both parties. The party causing the pressure, isn't singled out, and "hated" by the rest of the community, and the party receiving the pressure, gets it resolved, usually fairly quickly and generally with no repercussions*2.

A side-note. The example you gave, is how life is when you get into the U.S.A. Military. So, in my opinion it is not a very good example.

Now don't get me wrong, I understand that you're talking about it being more like, the person shouting isn't trying to improve you, but just wants you to stay in line and follow the rules so they don't have to deal with you.

However, there is always at least two sides to everything. So for you example, the person shouting is trying to improve you, and help you become the individual you signed up to become. Or even if it is a person such as parents, they are raising to, they could be trying to raise you to be proper, well behaved, and so on.

But again, at the same time, they could just not what to deal with you. And if it is someone else, such as a random person in the street, why should it bother you? They have no authority over you. And the same can be side for them, you do not have authority over them, so you should not be telling them how to live.

*1: This is more of a note to the moderators/admin(s) This word is considered incorrect, even though it is a correct word and spelled correctly.
*2: The normal repercussions are getting attacked more, and getting singled out by other members.

Sorry that it is long. Like I said at the start, this is the kind of thing I have fun with. I love dealing with things that are "on the line", because they vary so greatly depending on the person. Why I love dealing with them, is because to me, it is a puzzle, and I'm trying to find that center line. The kind of line that is so crystal clear, that it cannot be misunderstood.

Poll Board / Re: Are you an animated gamer? If yes, How amintated?
« on: April 29, 2013, 10:00:20 pm »
Umm... anger management?

Just joking :D

I get angry all the time when gaming, I just control it and don't let it affect others or me or anything else. Everyone gets angry, it's how you act on it that makes you an awesome guy or a jerk that no one likes to game with :)

Especially in multiplayer games like Dota I used to get really frustrated and would literally curse under my breath and really try to get back at the player who messed me up. Then I realised it was affecting my enjoyment of the game, my performance at the game, and affecting other people too, friends teammates etc. Now I've changed my mentality. During Dota, this is my checklist when something makes me mad:
Was it my fault?
Yes = ah well, think about how I can improve so it doesn't happen again
No = ah well, nothing I can do then, think about what I can do now

In any situation, just think rationally. Sit back, ah well, and think about what you can do now to fix it rather than on what's already happened. That immediately kills the anger and activates the positive part of your brain.

Sounds like that came straight from a text book. Haha.

Well, yes you are right, in if you let it effect others. However, every human requires some sort of stress relief. Which comes in a huge variety of ways, because everyone is different.

While logically, the "safest" way to deal with stress, is to stop, take a deep breath, and rationalize the situation. There are people who are not rational thinkers, so that is not the best way for that person to deal with stress. So they may have to do something like, go play a sport, or something physical; Others may need to just rant and rave for awhile until they've cooled down.

Now while I do get very animated when I game. It does not effect the people around me, it may decrease/increase my gameplay depending on why I'm getting animated. However, it is never directed at another person, just the game itself or me.

I am actually a mixture of doing something physical, ranting and raving for awhile, as well as rationalizing it. I use different methods depending on a variety of factors; Such as level of stress, previous mood, time of day, level of tiredness. The list goes on from there, but you should be able to get the idea.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not thinking straight if I'm stressed out with anger, so it's not like a math equation that I calculate in my head. It is more of something that has become habit after a lot of practice.

One thing you could keep a note of, is that everyone will see things differently.

So just like your post on the names. It's not that you're being defensive, but wanting to make it as clear as possible.

While someone from the outside, such as hamza_tm, can see it as being defensive.

Now, while your intentions were to avoid explanations, it still ended with you explaining something.

Also, another thing you can take note of is that over explaining something, will generally bring only more explaining. I know this very well, because I tend to over explain everything a lot. :D

"Is yes, How amintated?"

if this is educated, then yes, i'm under educated. but i think it should read "if yes, how animated?"

Ah. You are right. I'm sorry. Please forgive my rudeness. I thought you were talking about "animated" being a typo.

Could I get a moderator to change it? :D

animated gamer? what...?

btw i don't understand why u typo'd the title like that when ur english is so fine elsewhere and in the post itself.

anyways, i don't really FI to any of those options, but i picked the 1st coz it's the closest. however i'm more like "ah f*** me" in a more gentle way.

so instead of raging it's more like being disappointed in something. in ur example, if a character didn't move like i wanted it to, i'd just probably laugh at it, lol.

There is no type in the title. You're just under educated.

Anyway, back to topic. Then I would have to say that you are not an animated gamer. Everyone has a little something when they get frustrated, just like your "ah f*** me". For me, it varies between standing up (and pretty much just leaving the area), to making people think I have a mental problem. Haha.

« on: April 29, 2013, 01:47:06 am »
Notice: If you aren't really doing a variation of the options in the poll, or are doing it "subtly", then I do not consider you an animated gamer.*1

For me, I'm the forth option. I'll go full blown standing up and moving around while cursing the tv/monitor when I get into games.

If I'm not totally into the game, I will be a combination of the second and third.

Even when playing TCO, I'll shove my chair back and start yelling saying something like "WHY THE F*** DIDN'T YOU F***ING MOVE BACK! DAMNIT (insert character name here) DON'T BE AN IDIOT!!" haha ^^;

*1: I noticed a few people that I wouldn't consider animated gamers, so I figured I'd elaborate on my definition of an animated gamer.

I've done a bit of testing. And While I cannot get it to OHKO, I am able to get it visible.

If you cast Mystic Storm, then a cinematic is played, the dummy unit becomes visible. It also becomes visible when trying to dig.

Until someone else gets this. There isn't much more I can do.

Unless someone who has already had this remembers what items and spells they had. Plus how they leveled their spells.

28
Hard to say, because they are all good.

However, here are a few that I generally won't pick.

Phodom:
Headbutt
Ultimate Sacrifice

Fradz:
Sword Dance

And that's pretty much it.

I probably will not use ultimate Sacrifice because I generally play on ****. So it would just result in an instant game over until I get Galeoth with Phodom.

I won't be using Headbutt for a similar reason, I wouldn't want to put myself in a bad situation because I lost 10% health. So like in a rare case, where I would use Headbutt, then power heal, except I wouldn't get the bonus health from power heal because it didn't cover that extra 10% health I lost. Which could put be into a very bad position. Not to mention that if I am below 10% health, it will kill me.

As for Sword dance, I generally won't pick this, because both illusory double and power orbs provide more benefits than 300% attack speed. Plus he takes 40% more damage, and cannot move. Illusory double provides some extra damage, and can serve as a distraction. While power orbs buff up Electro Shell, which can provide a prolonged life.

Galeoth's Order: Hotkey is not working. And doesn't show up in the multiboard. Doesn't add bonus damage.

Magical Fog: Does not show up in the multiboard.

Counter attack: Only adds 50 damage. Will teleport anyone who is attacked.

Fire Power: Fire balls do not disappear when an ability is used.

Spinning death: Can not be cancelled unless Phodom is moved. Deactivating should not cost mana.

Ultimate Sacrifice: Does not appear in multiboard.

Shield Of Fire: Has no visual effect.

I didn't find anything else wrong, with the test version I have.
