Title: Competition #34
Post by: Aeroblyctos on November 27, 2011, 11:26:29 am
Competition Idea

The idea of this competition is to create an item set special bonus. There must be at least two different bonuses that will eventually combine to something even more powerful.

Hints

Here's an example number one:
Spoiler (hover to show)

Here's an example number two:
Spoiler (hover to show)

    • You don't need to the create whole item set with stats, just the special things.
    • Usually item sets have two to six pieces. In rare cases even more.
    • It can be active or passive idea. Usually items are passives.

    Competition Rules

      • The idea have to be yours.
      • You can make unlimited amount of entries.
      • I will have all the rights to edit the rules all the time(I will do it correctly and I will be fair for everyone).

      Competition Prizes

The winner of this competition will have his or her name to Hall Of Fame and will be credited as "Competition Winners" and "Idea Giver". If you have one more than once you'll be credited automatically as "Great Idea Giver". Also any other ideas that I'll use will be credited as "Idea Giver".

      Judging

I'm the only one who will judge the winner of the competition. I will judge all entries. The amount of entries you post will not decrease your chance to win in any way. However, if there are a lot of entries or horrible entries, I'll have the right to kick some of them away in order to make the final judge easier for me.

This is the order how I judge:

        • Is your idea creative and fresh?
        • Can I possibly create your idea?
        • The presentation?

        Deadline

The competition begins immediately and conclude 5.12.2011.

        Final Words

Good luck, may the best idea win. If you have questions, ask.

Or is it just inventing the bonuses without any background?

        Hello,

Do one have to give the item set a name? Is it required to name the parts?
Or is it just inventing the bonuses without any background?

No need to give names, just write the descriptions. Yup, just invent the bonuses without background. Let's skip the bullshit and go straight to the point.

        1-Cursed arrow
        +Dmg
        +As
+Everytime the user attacks , there are x% chances to deal dmg = total health(of user)

        2-Cursed bow
        +Dmg
        +Dmg aura
+Everytime the user attacks , there are x% chances to deal dmg = total mana(of user)

        Cursed Balista
        +Dmg
        +As aura
        +Dmg aura
        +AS
+Everytime the user attacks , there are x% chances to deal dmg=total life and mana(of user)

This is something I'm looking for.

2nd entry a huuuge item set.

        Hellfire stone1
        +dmg
        +as
        +ms
        +armor
        +armor aura
        +evasion
        +magic dmg
        +hp
        +mp
        +hp regen
        +mp regen

And so goes on with the other helfire stones.Like if the dmg of the first one is 25 , the dmg of the second one is 50 , and so on...There are 25 helfire stones , the last one looks like this

+When used , the user summons Devil's Guard

Devil's guard has huge dmg , huge armor , huge hp and slow AS and MS.
Devil's guard randomly attacks enemies and alies , for it is neutral.
Devil's guard last for only 10-25 seconds.

He has low hp , low armor , huge ms and as.

You're focusing on the wrong thing. I don't want any stats, I want the special things. Anyone can create and put together some stats, but the harder part is to create the special things. This is what I'm searching for.

        Hello,

Disclaimer: Additional stats are necessary to be added.

        Alchemist's Tools
        Special bonuses are passive.

        Piece #1: Alchemist's Flask

        Piece #2: Alchemist's Herb Bag

Increases alchemy level growth by 30%.

        Complete set bonus:
Increases alchemy level growth by 100%.

I don't see two things that combines. I just see one thing that becomes better.

        Hello,

I thought about the alchemist's tools over and gave it a go on fixing it to match the requirements of the competition.

        Alchemist's Tools 2.0
        Special bonuses are passive.

        Piece #1: Alchemist's Flask
Upon creating a potion, there's a 30% chance to create two potions.
Also increases alchemy level growth by 30%.

        Piece #2: Alchemist's Herb Bag
Upon picking up herbs, there's a 30% chance to find a herb that's large enough to fill up two normal herbs (aka double the quantity).
Also increases alchemy level growth by 30%.

        Piece #3: Alchemist's Recipe Book
Upon mixing herbs to create potions, there's a 30% chance to success on using less materials, consuming only one of each required herb.
Also increases alchemy level growth by 30%.

        Complete set bonus:
All the previous except level growth, which would be 100%.

        Hello,

        Can you define what's "balanar"?

Also, isn't it enough to say "he summons" only once, instead of "he summons he summons"?

        Hello,

        This? (http://www.playdota.com/heroes/night-stalker)

Right, assuming Black plays DotA, it's likely possible. However, this brings me to the subject of how case-sensitiviness affects one's understanding.

        As an example:

        Black-like: Acting / Being like Blackdoom59.
black-like: Acting / being like the race of black people.

Savvy? Uppercase and lowercase matters for some folks...

        Hello,

That's not the point, and I didn't even mean that: It's just that if there's something unique OR a person by name, and you're trying to describe someone or something is like that person, write the first letter in uppercase, just like you're told to write I in uppercase in English.

        All this to avoid missunderstandings...

        Hello everyone!

Before I start to judge I have to say that I've "kicked" some entries. I've read them all and I kicked those which:

        1) I can't do
        2) Needs too much work
        4) Is just too close to an item I've already created
        4) Too crappy idea

I've judged from each member at least one entry!

Also I'll have to say that I'm satisfied with the results. Some new ideas! Okay let's go...

        Blackdoom59's "Arrow set"

        Pros & Cons:

+ The idea is simple and good
        - Maybe a little too similar to "Tzitorin" item and "Magic Torment" combat king

Overall it's a fine idea and I'll use the idea for my new item set in chapter 8.

        3 / 5

        Blackdoom59's "Illusion set"

        Pros & Cons:

+ This is an innotative idea and possible to do
        - The combination isn't that well done
        - Presentation is horrible! Black text and black background

It's a nice idea and I could use illusions more. I recently learned a new simple way to do illusions anyway.

        3 / 5

        DD Canada's "Alchemist's Tools"

        Pros & Cons:

+ This is definitely a new way of thinking
        - It's just about one thing in the end

I'm gonna add this type of item but I don't know yet in what format.

        2,5 / 5

        DD Canada's "The Daybreaker"

+ Once again this is definitely a new idea I've never thought
        - The bonuses itself aren't that great

Another excellent way of creating something totally new. Good job.

        3,5 / 5

        doomlord's "Abyssal Set"

        Pros & Cons:

+ I like the zero collision idea
        - Other than that the idea is combination of basic Blizzard abilities
        - Needs too much work

        2 / 5

So the winner is once again DD Canada following very close Blackdoom59 and third place goes to doomlord. Good job guys!

        Why are there two four-o's?

        Hello,

        Typo I guess.

I once had a friend in *a* MMO under character name "Stillnot".

        Typo 'stillnot' fixed.

        2,5 + 3,5 equals 6 also. :) Now if it was a tiebreaker?

        2 things 2 tell Aero:
1.What about my Pirate set ,it has been kicked? If so , why?

        Perhaps due to conditions #1 & #2?

        2.Illusion set=>Black set , just like  my name ;D

        Comments in bold.

Ok idea, but used(in a way or another).

        I can't do this one.

Just tried to make the judge easier for me.

Ok this thread closed & move to avoid more confusion.
