Draw A Map!
« on: December 25, 2010, 08:24:58 am »
Hello there.

It's time to update the map of Balgaron and I'm asking you to do it.

Basic information:

  • Please don't write any names for the map yet. Just draw the map first.
  • Make the map high quality.
  • Let's go with your style, but overall I want the map to be about same as the current one. Check the things under what especially should be added.
  • Special credits will be given to you.

How to draw:

  • The Terdoom Castle should be at the centre of the map. It's the capital city of Balgaron and it's a gigantic castle and city that has widely spreaded. The city has grown far from it's original walls. Don't forget to draw the country yard around it which is even larger. Dragon Inn is part of that country yard.
  • Draw the four King's roads: one goes to right(Saoloth), one left(Ollapion), one up(to Sodan Harbour) and one down(to Rot'Afor).
  • Draw the river from the Icy Mountains. It is a large river and I allow you to make it even bigger, like many rivers joins together to one big river.
  • Draw the Dragon Lake: make some rivers from Icy Mountains to it and also make rivers from the Dragon Lake to the sea. You can combine the river from Dragon Lake with "Strong River".
  • Dalli to northwest courner. The Great Marsh is between Dalli and Terdoom Castle. There are two ways to Dalli: the road that goes straight the marsh, or a road from Sodan Harbour. This road is goes half of the way in the coastline and then follows that river.
  • Sodan Harbour is a big haurbour city. It is the second largest city of Balgaron. Draw it!
  • Add the four fortresses. They are important too.
  • The fortress at east, remember that there's actually a wastelands already. Get rid of that forest at northeast corner. It is is half wasteland already.
  • Icy Mountains are huge.
  • Kar'Gath, don't forget to to draw it. It is a city in a mountain.
  • You can add there extra villages, cities, montains, forests, etc whatever comes in your mind. Remember that the village at east should stay where it is. That forest is dark forest full of Monsters.

Here are some previous maps:

Well....if I find the time, maybe I could draw up a map for you. Couple questions though, does this need to be in color (I'd do color if I could) and that black stuff that's going all around terdoom castle, that's a river right? Second, those lines across Great Marsh East and West are....? Plains perhaps? Blight, roots....trees? I'm gonna try and model it after yours because I'm not too familiar with your world, of course I'm going to try and use color and all that and give my own artistic details here and there.

Again, I might not be able to do this, if I get the info I'd see if it'd be possible but idk, I'm tight on time lately, if this was the summer I'd be able to get cracking on this but that's a long time for now, again I'll see what I can do.
I got two playthroughs now. One on Extreme and ****! Be sure to check them out in the Walkthroughs Sub-Forum.

You'll decide that.

I didn't quite get that answer. Terdoom Castle is the one in the middle. There are four roads from it and a lot of countryside around the huge city.

I don't know. Maybe they are to show that it's marsh...

Yea something like that.

It's up to you. There's no hurry, I'm here still for a long time. You people may come and go, I'll be here. I'll be here.  ;)

Lol, those are roads? Lmao, sorry I'm not laughing at your art, it's pretty nice I was just under the impression all these years that it was a river, makes so much more sense. I'll see what I can do as soon as I can.

Not my art, my sister's art.  ;)

My art of drawing is even more horrible than that.  ;D

Actually, I like the old one being used right now. It gives it that older/feudal times because it looks like it was drawn on a scroll.
Hey you... Yes you... get over here...

One problem with the current map is that it gets reshaped on the loading screen so it looks very distorted.  It's the same thing with many of the chapter intros.  I do play on a widescreen monitor which does contribute some I'm sure.

Yeah. I removed those "starting loading screen" and now just wait that someone finishes the map that is high quality as possible.

Are you sure about that?

I think it would be great first to talk with the creator how things will go. I'll of course make some changes to the map.

The current map is so outdated. It was created when I started the whole project.
