Hey All!
« on: December 01, 2010, 11:53:33 am »
Hey everyone, I am Josiah. I tinker with computers, play World of Warcraft some. And of course love this campaign. Would love to get in on some early stress testing action to give you rapid feedback on your new builds.

You know I can't help but notice all the people who have problems with particular bugs, solving puzzles and such. If people do find themselves stuck the best thing I recommend is actually open up the campaign in the editor and open the specific level find the area where you are having trouble and look at what it's programed to do or where the zones are this helps you avoid some of the more insidious traps. Also very useful when trying to figure out where that last damn item piece drops!

Thanks Aeroblyctos for making such and epic campaign let me know if there is anything I can do to help you get it finished.

P.S. How does alchemy work, how do you know what level you are and why in the editor for the alchemy triggers is it still looking for the Triangle Flasks (Removed) and not the new 1s like in random potion.
Edit: Ok it looks like each successful craft levels you up. In which case it looks very easy to get to max level as and 31 crafts would let you start crafting the hardest item *assuming you had the recipe*

Well WOW isn't bad, but you got to take breaks now and then it sure can eat up time. And then sometimes it just gets to be too much waiting in Qs and stuff and too little doing what you want :)

As far as the editor I love the thing, Aero pretend you didn't see this because I really do love your campaign, right now I am playing the latest beta but when I got to chapter 2 I really wanted to play my Ghost from Startcraft II Nova so I replaced Fradz basically, and actually it's amazingly epic I love actually getting to kite, since the Ghost has some increased movement speed its viable but takes some practice, was especially cool on boss fights like the dude with the really long name, since Nova is Such a Squishy!! So now I am on chapter 3, you can peak a little here Aero, and Galeoth is kinda WEAK I really considered Not ranking skills up because they would still ONLY get the same bonus from Ice Specialization but not cost as much mana, or maybe that's my problem that it got nerfed and maybe I should be rolling ice elementals but in any case it sucks to take 3 ice bolts which have a 12 second CD to kill trash mobs... and it hits you mana so bad to do that! Not to mention your base attack is completely worthless. (Too make a long story short I am creating a temp item that will carry him through the chapter since I dont like the feel as much as in 3.3a there at least he was a little tougher and did a Lot more dmg.)

Oh and welcome to these forums too, saw your post today! :) So your from Singapore, how is it down there?

P.S. If you haven't played Starcraft II Ghost's are super leet snipers. I Love snipers =))

Haha, i am afraid to try WOW, since some of my school TEACHERS are affected by that game!

Woah, you added a ghost??? O.o How is that even possible i have absolutely no idea :D

Yeah, my favourite unit in SC2 are ghosts, but only one particular ghost stands out, NOVA THE HOT-tie!

Well, hello there Josiah!

The basic bugs what people tell me are easy to fix and takes just a little time. If there's however something wrong with a system then it might take days or even weeks to fix. Then I usually ask people's help. Feel free to open the campaign in world editor but I don't suggest to look at it too close, or you'll see some spoilers(luckily all dialogues and major things are written in notepads, so you can't see them(and I have hundreds of notepad files in my computer)).  :P

Everytime you create a potion with alchemist your level will go up by 1. Some potions need enough level to be created. You should see your level from multiboard. Yeah, it's pretty east to level up alchemist.

Ghost from Startcraft II Nova? What d? hell?

So you say Galeoth is the major problem? I can make Galeoth's abilities stronger, but what you suggest? Decrease cooldowns?

Welcome!

Ok Aero for Galeoth I do have a few ideas 1 Yes shorten ice bolt back 6 second cooldown. Second your mana cost scales up too fast I suggest increasing the cost by half as much per level. So currently the way it works is magbouns%(abillvlx50 + intx3 + magbonus) so its just flat better to level up ice mastery than any other skill (besides the ultimate power) because ice mastery adds a magic bonus of abillvlx100 while not increasing the mana cost of your spells. So I think it would be better to encourage people to still level up skills to partially return ice mastery to the way it was i.e. 20%, 40% ect... the exactly percentage would be your call But change the formula to magbonus%((abillvlx50 x (1 + icemastery)) + intx3 + magbonus) that way the better your base skill the more benefit you get from your ability level but it doesn't multiply by everything which is probably why you nerfed it orginally.

So to reiterate my suggestions susinctly:
1. Ice Bolt - Change Cooldown to 6 Seconds
2. All Mana Based Abilites - Reduce the speed mana scales up (As a wizard unless a boss does something you probably shouldn't run oom anyway, it practically is your basic attack the cooldowns are what keep your damage managed)
3. Ice Mastery - Make it a % bonus to abillvl again using the magbonus%((abillvlx50 x (1 + icemastery)) + intx3 + magbonus)
4. WHY THE *BLEEP* does Frozen now have a mana cost when no other hero pays for their sword dance or avatar... that's supposed to be a free move. I recommend taking out the mana cost to just keep things logical and balanced.

Ok well first I made the ghost in concept it has a slow rate of fire 1 shot per 5 seconds then most all of it's abilites center around its basic attack with the exception of its cloak and ultimate power which is actually out of the book Starcraft: Ghost. So I made 2 versions of the cloak 1 is temporary like in the game actually but it breaks when you fire (I used windwalk). Then I had made a powerful version of Critical Strike (I just love seeing red numbers over my toons head.) For the 3rd ability I gave her Expertise which increases your attack and movement speed this is what makes kiting possible (Endurance Arua super charged). So thats all the regular But I still needed an ultimate 1 option was a permanent cloak (like used by shades) obviously OP for this campaign although I use it in the skirmish version of my ghost in addition to the power I when with Psyonic Blast basically shockwave emitting out from heroes location. I the book when they happened it cleared out a few blocks lol but here it does a Ton of dmg to everyone within 1000 yards. For the free power I just kept fradz's illusionary double and Sword Dance (which I renamed to Focus Mode) allowing a certain amount of customization. So that's the Design of the ghost. As far as how I put it in I have the ghost in 1 of my other maps so just opened campaign editor went to custom data pasted the abilities that I wanted to use adjusted their stats and levels based on the current way abilities work in the campaign. Then I went to Fradz's unit data in the custom data of the campaign and changed all the Variables for looks and words, and stats for level increases and such, then replaces the hero abilites with mine and removed the old 1s that I wasn't going to use from the tech tree, leaving mostly only Sword Dance and Illusory Double as it's spelled.

P.S. Aero I know there are spoilers, but mostly I just look at mechanics and puzzles to find the objective... solving is often simple once you know the goal. Don't worry I actually don't change very many things your Super Amazing Campaign, well... mostly, and if I do it's because your game has So much awesomeness it can handle it.

P.P.S. Yes Kirbopher18 I agree Nova is very cool and very Hot, and I especially love snipers.

Okay, I make this reply short I don't have much time coz' I'm now finishing that new version. I'll improve Galeoth by making lower cooldowns and removing mana cost of special abilties.

It's okay that you look at world editor.
