Competition Idea

The idea of this competition is to create a passive ability for Phodom. The ability must have 20 levels and should be balanced in the beginning but also in the end.


Hints

    • The ability must have 20 levels.
    • The ability can also be like Immolate ability where you can activate / deactivate the ability.
    Competition Rules

      • The idea have to be yours.
      • You can make unlimited amount of entries.
      • I will have all the rights to edit the rules all the time(I will do it correctly and I will be fair for everyone).



      Competition Prizes

      The winner of this competition will have his or her name to Hall Of Fame and will be credited as "Competition Winners" and "Idea Giver". If you have one more than once you'll be credited automatically as "Great Idea Giver". Also any other ideas that I'll use will be credited as "Idea Giver".


      Judging

      I'm the only one who will judge the winner of the competition. I will judge all entries. The amount of entries you post will not decrease your chance to win in any way. However, if there are a lot of entries or horrible entries, I'll have the right to kick some of them away in order to make the final judge easier for me.

      This is the order how I judge:

        • Is your idea creative and fresh?
        • Can I possibly create your idea?
        • The presentation?



        Deadline

        The competition begins immediately and conclude at earliest 22.12.2011 or when I judge the competition.

                                                          Hunger for Revenge


        After some hits , Phodom remembers his thirst for revenge , afterwords he gets insane and focsuses most of his power in offensive.This works everytime phodom loses 10% hp but lasts only some seconds.

        Calc:
        Every 10% hp lost , Phodom gains:
        -10+strx3 dmg
        -25%+agix10 attack speed
        -lasts for lvlx1 seconds.




        Pros:
        -Since Phodom loses huge ammounts of HP , this ability should fit perfectly
        -Gives some dmg to the tanky Phodom
        -It happens often
        -Bonus attack speed that can make perfect combo with "Area attack" spell
        -At the end , the ability lasts for a huge ammount of seconds


        Cons:
        -Requires some str/agility so uselss one a "caster" Phodom
        -Preety much turns Phodom into offensive , making the player waste his life recklessly
        -At the begaining , the ability lasts for a ridiculous ammount of seconds

        Morale Warcry
        Description
        Every time Phodom looses a high amount hitpoints with one hit, he lets out a shout of agony, trying to deal with the pain in that way. This shout increases his armor and damage while it encourages every friendly unit near him. Everyone who hears this shout gets inspired from Phodom and gains an armor and damage bonus just like him. The effect wears off after X seconds.

        Effects
        - If Phodom looses 20-30%or more hitpoints with one hit, he shouts
        - Shout increases everyones armor and damage nearby by X and Y
        - Shout wears off after W seconds
        - Passive ability has an internal cooldown around Z seconds (Z > X)

        Calculation (These are just suggestions):
        X = abillvl
        Y = abillvl*5
        W = 10-20
        Z = 30

        Appearance:
        This one, in case it happens, simply looks like a normal shout, similar to his defensive roar (maybe you could change the color but yeah, that's it).

        This entry came into being with friendly coorperation between Doomlord and me ;D
        Edit: Oh and as I notice it now, it seems like this shout entry is pretty similar to Blackdooms...dammit.

        CONCUSSIVE BLOW
        Description: Each time Phodom finishes casting a spell, his hammer is enchanted with powerful energy left over from the spell. The next blow unleashed upon the enemy deals bonus damage and knocks the target back 500 units and slows it for 3 seconds.
        Effects:
        • Indicator: Fire attached to Phodom's hammer.
        • Knock Back Effect.
        • Slow Effect.
        Calc:
        • Damage bonus: (lvl+strength)*5.
        • Slow Percentage: First level: 5%. Each level increases the amount by 4%
        Side Notes:
        • Units are knocked back over 2 seconds. They are still vulnerable during the duration.
        • The damage is dealt at the end of the knock back duration.

        Protection-Flame Aura

        Description:
        Phodom uses his magical power to create an aura of Protection-flames, increasing armor and health-regeneration of every friendly unit + himself nearby. Due to the huge effort it needs to keep this aura activate, his mana is burned down slowly while this ability is activated.

        Effects:
        - Activates an Aura, that increases armor by X and health regeneration by Y
        - Mana Regeneration of Phodom is set to 0 while the aura is activated
        - Mana burned down slowly by Z per second while the aura is activated

        Calculation (just suggestions):
        X = 0,5*abillvl
        Y = 2,5%*abillvl
        OR:
        Y = 5hit points reg*abillvl
        Z = abillvl

        Appearance:
        Similar to the ultimate-spell of the troll-hero in wc3 from the orcs. With this spell he makes every unit invulnerable except himself.

        I can't decide, so here are a few suggestions you can choose between:

        Obstinacy

        Description: Phodom strength and courage give him valor. Expiry only makes him stronger and tougher.

        Effect: Every 1% hp lost Phodom gains 0.02 x slv armor. Also give him 0.05x slv hp regen/sec

        Caculator:  75%hp -> 0.5 armors (slv1); 2.5 armors (slv5); 5 armors (slv10); 10 armors (slv20)
                                           1.25 hp/s   (slv1); 6.25 hp/s   (slv5); 12.5hp/s (slv10); 25 hp/s     (slv20)

                          50%hp -> 1 armor (slv1); 5 armors (slv5);  10 armors (slv10); 20 armors (slv20)
                                           2.5 hp/s(slv1); 12.5 hp/s(slv5);  25 hp/s     (slv10); 50 hp/s     (slv20)

                          25%hp -> 1.5 armor (slv1); 7.5 armors(slv5); 15 armors(slv10); 30 armors (slv20)
                                           3.75hp/s  (slv1); 18.75 hp/s(slv5); 37.5 hp/s (slv10); 75 hp/s    (slv20)

        Pros:- For char that oriented in tanking
                - The number is quite reasonable, IMO
                - More effective end game
        Cons: - Not for mage Phodom
                  - Not as effective early as Aura of Fire
                  - Phodom using this can have a hard time chapter 1 (extremely hard), and maybe chapter 4
                  - Bored and nothing new (:|
                  - Wont have eye-candy (:|

        In case I remember the whole thing right, something like that was made for Combat King Berserk:
        Aero coded it like an aura that should check itself after every second and adapt itself to the hitpoints of the character. But since the whole thing was too complicated, it somehow did not work.
        So it would be nice if you could imagine a way to make the whole thing easier to code.

        Fire Imbued Skin

        Description: Phodom uses his inner fire to strengthen his skin, give him the ability of absorbing damage, storing and reflecting it. Turning on the ability doesn't consume mana, but reflecting damage does.
         
        Effect: When turned on, give Phodom 5 x slv damage absorption. When the total damage absorbed reaches a certain number (50 x slv, mean 10 attacks), Phodom will release it as a fire nova dealing the same magic damage and knock enemies it hits back, render them disabled for 2 secs. Also, every fire nova drains 25% of Phodom's current mana

        Pro: - It is more original
               - More eye-candy
               - Good to end-game, can be a little too strong early
               - It can be revised with magic damage/magic bonus additions, good for char who is tank/mage hybird
               - Good in crowded area; good in teamwork ( AOE disable)
        Cons:
               - As said, early it's a bit too strong
               - Activate on being hit --> there is no room for completely-mage-oriented Phodom
               - Can be a little hard to code (Idk, since I have no knowledge of coding)

        Okay guys, some great entries here. You guys gave me once again a lot of new ideas. Some of the ideas were more likely Combat Kings or Special Abilities but that doesn't matter to me. I can still use them in a way or another!



        Hunger for Revenge by Blackdoom59

        Pros & cons:

        + The idea works
        - Usually it's not a good idea to put spell duration based on level, and this is not a special case
        - The basic idea is similar to Combat King Berserk

        I would say you've done the ability overally good and it would fit with Phodom.

        Morale Warcry by Isofruit

        Pros & cons:

        + The idea is done well
        + I like the idea of activating the ability if Phodom takes a heavy blow from an enemy unit
        - The armor bonus shouldn't increase per level(because it's % already)
        - I have a feeling this would be better to simply have one level

        This is an interesting idea. The values should be solid and not percentage. However, I have a feeling that this could be better with percentages. I like the idea nonetheless.

        Concussive Blow by Doomlord

        Pros & cons:

        + Overall okay idea
        - This ability is imba(after every single cast this is activated)
        - The ability would be unrealistic if there are huge enemies knockbacked

        I could think something like this, but this would only happen against smaller type of enemies. Also a knockback with ability doesn't seem right to me.

        Flame Aura by Isofruit

        Pros & cons:

        + I like the new of thinking that mana regen would be zero when the ability is active
        - The bonuses of aura are unoriginal

        The basic idea works, but the bonuses don't. This ability however gave me a great start thinking of Phodom last Ultimate Ability.

        Pros & cons:

        + Works

        There's not much to say about this ability. It works, there are no flaws but in other hand there's nothing new and unique.

        Indeed, but this only happens with Blizzard made auras. This ability is only for Phodom which means I won't do it from an aura.

        + Storing and unleashing damage is a good idea
        - Hard to balance if it's not made by percentages
        - I have a feeling this would be better if it has only 1 level(or 5 in case of combat king)

        The idea is nice, but the ability won't work with 20 levels...

        + Would work
        + Nice effects you've chosen
        - Unoriginal
        - Just basic stats, this is like another item without any specialities

        This is the worst entry of this competition.
