Competition Idea

The idea of this competition is to create a boss battle based on the model in the picture.





Hints


    • This is chapter 8's epic boss
    • The boss will have something from these categories:
    • Passive: For example boss can stun a character with a hit.
    • Events: Unique boss spells that makes the boss different from other fights.
    • Spells: Basic spells, there are usually more than one.



    Competition Rules

      • The idea have to be yours.
      • You can make unlimited amount of entries.
      • I will have all the rights to edit the rules all the time(I will do it correctly and I will be fair for everyone).




      Competition Prizes

      The winner of this competition will have his or her name to Hall Of Fame and will be credited as "Competition Winners" and "Idea Giver". If you have one more than once you'll be credited automatically as "Great Idea Giver". Also any other ideas that I'll use will be credited as "Idea Giver".



      Judging

      I'm the only one who will judge the winner of the competition. I will judge all entries. The amount of entries you post will not decrease your chance to win in any way. However, if there are a lot of entries or horrible entries, I'll have the right to kick some of them away in order to make the final judge easier for me.

      This is the order how I judge:

        • Does everything fit with the model?
        • Are the ideas creative and fresh new?
        • Is the boss unique from other bosses?
        • Is the presentation nice?




        Deadline

        The competition begins immediately and conclude 8.9.2011.



        Final Words

        Good luck, may the best idea win. If you have questions, ask. I'll remake this boss battle after the competition is over.

        theese mage can summon a cloud of dark energy, which slo-o-owly (100-200 ms) moves towards the hero and . . . yeah, just kill him and dissapear. after ressurect, miniboss spawn it again.
        it provide very dynamic fight, especially for melee heroes.

        actualy, dont add it =) (i hope u know why) it is just an idea for future lone - fights

        Ok, ok.

        Here's an example entry:


        Abilities: Every 10 second.

        - Rapid: +50% attack speed for 5 second
        - Bladestorm: 600/800/1000/1200


        Passive(s):

        - 1% evasion / 100 mana.
        - 25% Critical Strike(4x damage)
        - Teleports behind dealing 750/1000/1250/1500 plus attack damage. Has 4 to 8 second cooldown.


        Event(s):
           
        - After 3 second multiple shockwaves forward dealing 3000/4000/5000/6000

        Okay I'll postpone this contest by one week more so that here will be more entries.

        Is the competition too hard of what's wrong?

        u can make him very hight attack gamage & range but low attack speed and area damage (like as cannon tower, non splash)

        I will make an entry after I test chapter 7 but waiting till I can do a play through with 1.6a first.

        just a little confused it looks like a fire dragon in an icey arena or is the contrast deliberately done i,e orangey red to white/blue.

        appreciate knowing what hes about so i can try fit a theme to it? or does the surroundings have no effect on this?

        Ignore the surrounding. Just focus on the dragon.

        The idea is a dragon battle anyway.

        I never went to chapter 7 so I don't know exactly how much stronger the heroes are at this point, but i will try something out...

        Max HP = 15 k
        Max MP = 7,5 k
        Damage = 200
        Atacke Speed = 2 hits per second
        Evasion = 20%
        Spell shield = 20%
        Critical = 10% chance of doing 3 times damage
        Ability 1 = 10% chance of stunning for 3 seconds
        Ability 2 = Ressurect with 50% max HP and MP (cooldown of 5 minutes)
        Spell = every 3 minutes instantly kill a nerby enime!

        Sorry if it's too hard, i don't know exactly how strong the 3 heroes will are at chapter 8!

        Well hello there.

        I'm not looking in this competition of well you know about the campaign. I'm looking for dragon boss ideas. I don't except or even want to see what values you put there. I want ideas. I'll balance things so you don't need to worry about this.

        What I'm asking here is you to create few ideas:

        - Passive things: for example when boss' hit points becomes less than 20% it will gain 666% bonus attack damage. Of course this idea is really simple and boring I want you to use your head and come up with something nice and unique.
        - Basic spell: the boss traps a random player's unit inside a fire trap and if this unit leaves the trap it will be stunned and damaged. This trap lasts 5 seconds. Just an example once again.
        - Event: Boss becomes invulnerable and starts to cast a powerful spell...

        It seems like this competition is too hard. I'm still gonna wait for few days more to see if you guys can come up with something.

        I see....so what about:

        Passive: Beeing the last dragon on earth don't make of him a weakling. Every attack the dragon puts on his target increase the chance of call his older brothers spirits killing the strongest of the dragon slayers (Like starts with 0% and then goes up to 1, 2, 3%...with every attack until it casts, so the chance come back to zero again)

        Spell: The fire breath of the XYZ (name) dragon has no equals on this old lands, every X minutes a massive amount of fire puts ours heroes in danger taking half of the HP left on then. It also has a small chance of putting ours heroes on fire dealing a small amout of dammge/second for a few time.

        Ability (last breath): being hunted over and over for so many years gave to the dragon a last resort, when his HP goes under X% it grabs the nearest hero enemy and flys to the sky with him, then it puts both on fire and with a massive diving it crash on the land. The fire heals the dragon back to X% of his max HP, but inflict a massive damage to our hero (cooldown of X minutes)

        I put X on every place it was suppose to be a number, but i doesn't means that al number has to be the same! :P

        Okay, now we are going correct way. Still I see in your text a lot of useless description which I don't need.

        About the first idea, it's just basic a chance on attacks to summon some minor enemies. Well, it could work but how is that tactical? Well it doesn't always need to be that tactical. Still I don't see that very unique idea.

        About second idea, where does the flame come from, is there a chance to evade it, and how I actually do that?

        The third idea is actually nice that the dragon would take a character away. But I've a problem with it too: the model doesn't have such animations so I'm limited with this case. I can make the dragon fly, etc but I can't do that.

        Okay, let's hope you'll continue with ideas. I would also suggest others to do the same.

        Boss Effect 1: Every 10 seconds or so the dragon breathes fire in a 180 degree cone in front of him dealing lots of initial damage and then damage over time for those standing on the flames for the next 4 seconds (= about 50% of the initial damage) and they 3 seconds after the flame breathe he tail swipes stunning for 2 seconds and doing about the same about of damage as the flame breathes initial damage and spins around to face that way.

        Note: this mechanic happens a lot and I really like that you cant Completely dodge the effect like so many of your spells so its a nice change of pace. The player of course is supposed to go behind the dragon for the breathe and then move into the flames so avoid the swipe. Also since they will need a time or 2 to adjust the damage should be strong but not as fatal as some of your boss effects.

        Boss Effect 2: Once in a while the boss will start rapidly shreding any target directly in front of it. For about 4-5 seconds each slash is a normal hit damage but he does about 4 per second or something like that. Player is supposed to move of course.

        Boss Effect 3: At 50% health he triggers an additional flame breathe with no tail swipe.

        Boss Effect 4: At 20% he enters berserking state and deals 3x all damage. At this phase I would also have an effect like inspiration that heals the players party to fullas they are inspired by the dragon's near death state to really keep it up.Give him a red glow for this phase.
