Competition Idea

The idea of this competition is to create a darkness based item. The item will be obtained from chapter 6 from a mini-game or from a mini-boss. The idea of the item must be unique and should give something new. You don't need to create the item itself, just think an idea and find a fitting icon for it that is not used in the campaign yet.

Create an own icon or find from others site. Here's a useful links for you:
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/icons.php
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/general-mapping-tutorials-278/hidden-resources-we-screenshots-116845/

Hints

- Make the item darkness based, meaning it have to be "evil".
- Also create the stats for it. However, if they are not balanced don't worry, I'll balance them for you.
- Make sure the icon is not used in the campaign yet.

Stats list(the number means how much each point costs)

Attack Damage = 10
Attack Speed(5%) = 150
Max Hit points = 1
Hit Points Regeneration = 50
Hit Points Regeneration(1%/sec) = 20
Max Mana = 1,5
Mana Regeneration = 100
Mana Regeneration(1%/sec) = 30

Agility = 30
Strength = 30
Armor = 50
Movement Speed = 4
Maximum vitality = 300
Magic Damage = 3
Magic Damage(1%) = 100
Steal Chance(1%) = 20
Extra gold from enemies(1%) = 20
Extra experience from enemies (1%) = 15
Luck(1) = 200
Evasion = 150
Critical dmg = 50

Competition Rules

- The idea have to be yours.
- You can make unlimited amount of entries.
- I will have all the rights to edit the rules all the time(I will do it correctly and I will be fair for everyone).

Competition Prizes

The winner of this competition will have his or her name to Hall Of Fame and will be credited as "Competition Winners" and "Idea Giver". If you have one more than once you'll be credited automatically as "Great Idea Giver". Also any other ideas that I'll use will be credited as "Idea Giver".

Judging

I'm the only one who will judge the winner of the competition. I will judge all entries. The amount of entries you post will not decrease your chance to win in any way. However, if there are a lot of entries or horrible entries, I'll have the right to kick some of them away in order to make the final judge easier for me.

Deadline

The competition begins immediately and conclude 16/1/2011.

Final Words

Good luck, may the best idea win. If you have questions, ask.

Sorry but I don't really know what does the stat list is for and what I need to do with it, but nonetheless, my entry would be:

Quote
Heart of Darkness:

A heart that belongs to a ferocious and powerful beast which has claimed many souls of human and other creature that it has slaughtered before, the beast was eventually defeated by (name of boss) and the heart of the beast was kept by him.

Allows the user to store the souls of enemy unit that he kills, the souls later can then be used to deal damage and reduce armor of enemy unit in the area. Damage and armor reduction is based on the amount of soul stored multiply by 25.

That is my entry if the item is obtained from killing a mini-boss, but if the item is obtained by completing a mini-game though, my entry would be:

Quote
Heart of Darkness:

A heart that belongs to a ferocious and powerful beast which has claimed many souls of human and other creature that it has slaughtered before, the beast was eventually defeated by a powerful Death Knight and stored in a place where it is only accessible after completing a puzzle / a powerful Death Knight and stored in a place where the heart is only obtainable after completing a puzzle..

Allows the user to store the souls of enemy unit that he kills, the souls later can then be used to deal damage and reduce armor of enemy unit in the area. Damage and armor reduction is based on the amount of soul stored multiply by 25.

Here is the icon that I have edited and turn it into more evil-themed and in its normal, passive, auto-cast and disabled form. I also described what icon it is originally from.

Well, here goes mine then. Mine is an armor piece, darkness themed of course. Here it is, since it is an armor it obviously needs some basic stats before the unique stats so....:

Item Name: Corruption

Basic Stats:
Somewhere around 7 armor
And around the area of 800 health

Unique Stat:
10% chance on hit to give +100 armor to the wielder, lasts 20 seconds, cooldown is 2 minutes.

My assumption is at this point in the game, you're gonna have a lot of items to compete for this slot so the basic stats for me and for others would be important, just one unique stat doesn't always make the item, imo.

Now this doesn't seem very darkness themed....yet, here comes the other stat of the armor (not as unique now that there is power hammer and sword of haste items in the game, but oh well). The more kills you get, the higher the % to get the +100 armor goes up. Basically, it gets charges. Every kill=0.02 or 0.05% or every 20-50=1%. The cap is 20% (25% if need be) from the basic 10%.

I'm basing the % on how many kills Phodom can get per chapter. So if Phodom gets 100 kills per chapter, then obviously 0.05% is the best way to go, since you wanna be able to max this armor in at least 2 chapters. If he gets 200 kills per chapter, around 0.03 or 0.02 so maybe he can get it within 3 chapters or something. The idea is this item will get better as it progresses so it won't be something you'll trash quickly, that's my uniqueness in here.

The reason why it is dark? I have a story for that....(it's not good at all, and I'm using my limited knowledge of TCO to create it, but it's just to give you an idea):

During the time of the war against dragons there was this one dragon slayer who cornered a weakened emerald dragon on the verge of death (the ones that are very good at magic, I think those were the emerald ones in TCO). Before the emerald dragon was about to cast a strong healing spell on itself, the dragon slayer was about to kill the dragon, the dragon quickly noticed this and stopped him. The dragon, being much smarter than the dragon slayer, tried to make a bargain agreeable to him. He bargained with the dragon slayer saying that if he could keep his life, he would enchant his armor to amazing points which he could never achieve. The dragon slayer thought about it, and figured he'd wait until he enchanted the armor and then kill him and get both the glory and the reward. Once he agreed, the dragon used its great magical powers to greatly enchant this armor. With that the dragon slayer pretended to leave but instead quickly turned and cut his throat. Right before the dragon died it used it's last ounce of strength and magic that he was going to use to recover himself to put a curse on the armor. This curse was complete and utter corruption of his soul....it was the curse of bloodlust. Later that day the dragon slayer had slain the dragon slayers in his squad and later murdered his own family through the curse and bloodlust that his armor gave him. The dragon slayer later committed suicide and this armor was kept away for a long time, hidden inside this area (puzzle side of the story). Alt ending (mini-boss side of the story): This armor was later found by (insert mini-boss here) and used to this day. Some of the magical powers is still stored inside this armor, though, most of the curse's magical powers has long been removed after the dragon slayer died with it. At times, it can call upon the magical powers from long ago increasing your armor by 100 for a short time. Through bloodlust (killing) you can charge up the armor even more to call upon more of it's magical powers (increased chance to trigger effect).

Sorry for making you read that horribly written essay, it was all I could think of to make this armor sound more evil and dark. The killing part to charge up your armors trigger rate was suppose be the dark part, though the story is pretty evil itself lol.

That's all I got, I tried and make it as useful and as unique as I could (which was hard, Aero almost made all the item ideas ever created, or at least the ones I tried thinking of ;))

Great entries! Great entries!

The stats list shows what things can be permanently added for items.

Hard one to make aero! do your best

Claws of the vampire lord

Stats: 40 damage, 20% attack speed and 5 allstats (balance it)

Unique: Everytime the Wielder attacks an enemy unit it takes away part of its soul. (aka each attack gives 1 charge, or each kill make it as you want it) At 50 (or w/e) Charges the user can Combine them with his own soul Turning him into a Deathly Ancient Creature (use illidan, vampire model or something) With chaos attack damage ( Or with increased stats) And a ranged attack (if you want)

Now the idea is awesome i know ! :D

Story: Monarchos, the vampire lord used his claws to feast on his victims. And then talk about a) it is hidden in a maze (minigame) or The miniboss found it and kept it etc

Oh I see, thanks for the info Aero! Well, since SaRDaNaPaLoS_QQ posted his entry on the 16th which is the closing date of the competition, I guess I'll try to update my competition entry with the basic stat as I only described the unique stat and not the basic one.

So basically, instead of just allowing the user to store the souls of enemy unit the user killed and use it to deal a damage and reduce enemy armor in an area, I would like to add that the item increase the hit point regeneration of the carrier by 10 and increasing mana regeneration by 150% as well. I would also like to upgrade the story by little as well.

Quote
Heart of Darkness:

A heart that belongs to a ferocious and powerful beast which has claimed many souls of human and other creature that it has slaughtered before, the beast was eventually defeated by a very powerful Death Knight and stored in a place where it is only accessible after completing a puzzle / a powerful Death Knight and stored in a place where the heart is only obtainable after completing a puzzle. Strangely, even up to now, the heart of the beast is still beating as if it were still alive and just by holding it, you could feel a surge of dark energy in your body.

Increase the hit point regeneration of the hero by 10 as well as increasing the mana regeneration of the carrier by 150%. Allows the user to store the souls of enemy unit that he kills as well, the souls later can then be used to deal damage and reduce armor of enemy unit in the area. Damage and armor reduction is based on the amount of soul stored multiply by 25.

The story part of the item that is colored in green is the explanation of increasing the carrier's hit point regeneration and mana regeneration.

Yea the deadline isn't that accurate it's just about when I post that judge post. In this site everything is lazy and cosy. We do things when the time is right. I'll judge soon.

We don't need to be so strict, we are just having fun here.  ;)

Hey, the judge is here. I'm satisfied of this competition's results and I'll be using every single idea you guys have suggested in a way or another. What I didn't like that you made a bit too complicated descriptions and didn't gave much of "permanent" stats. Because of this, I'll move some of the ideas to other items.

Divine Seal 's "Heart of Darkness"

+ The idea is cool.
+ Story is fine.
+ Icons are okay and many choices.
- There was similar item before, "Urn Of Souls"
- The item have to be used, giving more more job to do. Some players might forget to use this item.

The basic idea of this item is to to increase the charges of the item by killing enemy units. The item must be used to make the effect happen. When used damage and reduce nearby enemy units' armor. The effect grows stronger the more charges the item currently has.

I like that, but it's almost same as the old "Urn Of Souls". However, I'll update the Urn Of Souls by your idea and add the item to chapter 6.

3 / 5

Killa's "Corruption"

+ The idea of the item is excellent.
+ I like the story.
- The item is really unbalanced.
- I didn't like the bonuses when killing stuff, it makes this item a bit too complicated. It works with Heart of Darkness, but not with this.

This item's idea is to have a giantic armor boost just for few seconds. I like that idea more than for a long time, because it's really imbalanced then. So I'll edit that one a little. I'll use the story elsewhere, but I'll add this unique idea to Phodom's ultimate set because the idea is great and fits very well with Phodom.

2,5 / 5

SaRDaNaPaLoS_QQ's "Claws of the vampire lord"

+ The idea to transform to something is unique.
- To balance this item is really hard and you didn't help me with this at all.
- I didn't like the icon and the name, I think an orb or something similar fits to this item's name and icon better. At least it's a transformation to something evil and dark.

To transform to a powerful beast is an unique idea for an item which made you to win this competition. I haven't used that idea ever before. The item itself can be done, but to balance this item is hard. You should have helped me to balance the item. I'm not sure yet where to add this item yet, but probably to chapter 6 as one of the most powerful items you can get.

3,5 / 5

Congratulations SaRDaNaPaLoS_QQ! You have won the competition! It was a close one.
