Something to hold Gold / Experience items?
« on: December 30, 2014, 08:47:54 am »
Not really an idea, just a suggestion. I'm playing normal to create a save game, I want to earn as much gold as possible so I keep wearing +gold% items all the time. Some of them are nice (like golden idol, golden claw) but some of them are just trash (like greedy armor). When you got into later chapter, you have more cool items and the monster itself also become stronger, if you keep wearing those items then you will be so weak for those chapters.

For example: in chapter 7, I get the golden trophy from statue quest, I exchanged greater magic ball and for coin sword, but these 2 items are not so useful compare to others I got from chapter 6 and 7. It's killing me since I want to wear strong items but want to earn as much gold as possible (so.. greeeedy?) >"<

Enough of the problem. I think we should have another dummy hero / inventory which can accumulate the +gold% and +exp% effects. This dummy hero / inventory is always stick next to Phodom and it can use items just like a normal hero (this is for Amulet of Bless from chapter 4, a very useful item but I have to wear it to cast every 5 minute. If I use it from a box, nothing happen and it starts cooling down. So inconvenient).

I don't know if this will make the game imbalance or not, IMO it's OK. You spent a lot of time to make nice items, you want people use all of it right? If I keep using old +gold% items, I can't use other nice items you created and otherwise. However, if you really think that this could make the game so imbalance, you can limit the number of slots that you can use items like that, let's say.. 6 or 4?

Another idea is to create a place, where you can exchange your +gold% items + some gold / honor points to keep that bonus for current game. However, I think it's very hard to implement a system like this, and even harder to figure out the amount of gold / honor points to exchange.

But doesn't this make things a little more tactical?

The game itself is hard and tactical already. For +gold items, I usually beat the monster until it nearly dead then exchange the items to get more gold. I see that now boxes have a instant swap ability but I cant make it work. Therefore, I have to manually exchange the items. That made me think that this is just time consuming and inconvenient, not so tactical at all. Sometimes it is worth, sometimes it is not.

For example, in chapter 10, level 100 monsters give about 1000gold. With greedy armor, golden idol, golden trophy, life stealer, greedy bastard, coin sword, medal of honor... I can make a about 400% gold, which make each monster give about 5000 gold. It's well worth 1 to 2 more minutes to exchange the items.

Well, if you think it is more tactical this way, then make that swap ability work. It would save lots of time.

And about items like amulet of bless, I think you should allow boxes to cast it normally. Its useless after cast but so far one of the best items in the game to throw away.

I think the best solution here is simply finish the swap item system.

And also let the Amulet of Bless work from box.
