Need your feedback and approval for this spell

Aero and me had been fighting for a few days now over this ability Thunder Blade. He said that the concept of my spell is bad and that it is not tactical enough. So here we are again, calling upon the judgement of members of TCO forum to help us/me. The test map has been attached to this post.

Thunder Blade

Every X seconds Fradz's swords are charged with lightning energy. The next attack is enhanced with bonus damage, deals critical damage and purges the target for 5 seconds, immobilizing it during the first 2 seconds and slowing it by a factor of 5. Purged units will slowly regain their movement speed over the next 3 seconds. Calc: Bonus Damage: 0.4*AGI. Critical Rate: 1.00+0.15*abilvl. Cooldown: 31.25-0.25*abilvl.

What do you mean by "tactical"? The skill is very good, i can't see nothing exactly wrong about it.
About my vote...i'm trying to understand why Aero didn't like it, so i'll wait, maybe he saw smth that i didn't.

I can't see what's the problem with this ability. It's useful, simple and practical, and should be imported.
Oh, and Aero wants to change this ability to something like: when Fradz is attacked, there's a chance that he'll fly to the rear of the enemy and attack it. FYI.

My votes and why:

Not tactical
  • Basically, since it is a passive, it can dish or bash here and there, so because it is pretty random, it's not really tactical.

Practical in-game
  • Practical in such way that whilst you're busy using these and those other skills, this doesn't need supervising, except for maybe if you want to direct the bonus hit to a specific monster. Then again, is it a real problem unless you spend it on a minion in a boss fight?

Good spell concept
  • The spell has potential... as a pre-combat buff.

Balanced
  • With a proper cooldown, it is balanced.

I don't want this ability to be imported
  • ...Because it's a passive BUFF spell. Make it an active skill with a few adjustments and it's gonna be beautiful. Well, everything assured...

Thanks Flecky very much for his feedback. Okay so after a few minutes of coding I have finally created this: Thunder Blade Active Version!!! One click and you get a buff that lasts for 7 seconds or 1 attack.


Thunder Blade

Fradz utilizes magical lightning to power-up his blades. Purged units will slowly regain their movement speed over the next 3 seconds. The buff lasts for 7 seconds or 1 attack. Calc: Bonus Damage: 0.4*AGI. Critical Rate: 1.00+0.15*abilvl. Cooldown: 10 seconds.

Beautiful effect (I love the flashing and the way his hands are electrified), but I don't understand how the critical works here (1.00+0.15*abilvl). It seems like the hit always is critical when the buff is active. And I think it should have some effects like Stagger or Bleed or something so it would make a chaining combo with other skills :D It requires timing skill already, right?

I don't understand how the critical works here (1.00+0.15*abilvl). It seems like the hit always is critical when the buff is active.

It could be that the "critical rate" in the formula should actually be "critical damage", so that each level enhances the critical damage dealt.

The term crit rate is really comrehensible and obvious. I don't know why you can't understand. For example your skill is at level 1, the crit rate will be 1.15x (1.15 times your attack damage) and if your skill is level 20 it will be 4x (4 times your attack dmg). This is like an unholy combination of Jinada and Enchant Totem. Powerful and capable of scaling perfectly with the campaign.

This skill's secondary purpose is removing bosses' positive bugs. Therefore no more buff placing, no more ...

Nope, actually, in every MMO and so forth, I've seen the crit rate being the chance to trigger a crit strike and the crit dmg being the critical DAMAGE enhancing factor.

Of course, there's as often crit chance as there's crit rate, sometimes both, in which case both refer to the possibility of dealing a critical strike.

Then we should use the term 'crit multiplier'. Simple and straightforward.
