Farm idea

Hey,

I'm gonna join a competition. Anyone have a good idea for this theme?

I'm gonna create a mini-game for the campaign.

I was first thinking to change chapter 3 third epic puzzle boss to something like 'move wisps to specific places'. But not sure if that's a good idea. Maybe you have better? There's room for a puzzle/mini-game in any chapter.

Why not? Wisps fits very well with chapter 3 epic boss theme.

It can be something else. You have ideas?

it's FARMING-related; chapter 3 is anything but related to farming, it's a dead icy chasm (albeit on mountains).

and wisps again, hmm, lemme check my farming glossary... umm... WISP CANNOT BE FOUND.

tbh i have no clue how farming could anyhow connected to the campaign, unless of course you did something to the fields in chapter 1 (and the other 1 is already filled with 2 quests).

Maybe chapter 5? Maybe chapter 7? It doesn't need to be 'farm pumpkins' we can use here our imagination.

So, You're doing a farm mini-game and wants it to be in the campaign...I think. AND since ch. 03 puzzle is crashing a lot, you want to change it too. Okay, but don't mix them together(that's not good). And if you didn't intend to mix then at all, you should have written it very clearly or put it in another thread.

The farm mini-game is obviously perfect for ch. 05. Since it has lots of farms, you just need to choose one and put the mini-game there. I'm still not sure of WHAT you want here, so explain it in a better way and I shall show my ideas :D.

I personally like ch. 03 first puzzle, but if you want to change it...hum...If you want it to be related to wisps(it's okay to use them here I think), perphaps a "protect the wisp game"? Again, I won't give you any details until you explain in a better way what you want, otherwise I'll get frustrated like Jael :P.

Jael gave up, well that's new.

No need to be exactly farming and that I want to prevent. I want to think outside of the box. Also I want it to be a fun game, a fun mini-game for the campaign.

I'm not going to change chapter 3 first puzzle. It is already fixed. I was thinking of the third one. But no need to be this one, the puzzle can be inserted to other chapters as well. Now I'm just searching for ideas.

Well basicly it's all around collecting souls. Just a pure basic idea is that you fight for control of souls against a enemy lord. It's a battlefield type of mini game in which you can get some ghastly warriors, to fight a battle of dominance. You can control points of interests that grant you souls (graveyards?), you can find lost souls scattered around (And that are hunted by soul devouring neutral monster). You pay with souls to get ghastly units, or you can kill innocent to gain extra souls (But that makes you go evil moar). By killing enemy units you can also get souls but first you need to "convert" them at special altar that can be atacked by enemy and taken over.

This is just a basic concept I made in like 5 mins :P

How about something like this.

The player has to farm up wisps for the world tree. And the play can do this by different means. Such as moving a wisp out of a maze to safety, killing enough of X creature, defend a conjurer while he conjures up some wisps, ect.

As for soul harvest, you could have the player start out as a skeleton, and his job is to raid a town, and harvest souls, and after so many souls the skeleton becomes more powerful and transforms into a ghoul, and so on.

Another idea would be to take it straight forward. The player has a farmer, and he needs to build up a farm. So he needs to get seeds, some land, a plow, water. You could take it further, and have the goal to store enough food for the winter, and have different types of crops, and have a random amount needed for each type of crop before winter comes.

How 'bout they meet one of the minions of the epic boss, and through miscommunication become one of the minions and are tasked to gather up souls for the epic boss so he can create more minions. And then after X amount of souls, they are tasked to bring it all to a store room; and in there the spell that turned them into a skeleton breaks.

With a spur of the moment decision, they loot as much as they can for the farmers (Phodom) or Himself (Fradz). They would have X amount of time to loot before they are discovered. The store room would contain a bunch of random things, potions, gold, food, chairs, tables, ect.

Then they have to fight their way out freeing as many trapped souls as possible (killing as many minions as possible) within a time limit. But here's the twist, the amount of stuff they looted, slows the down. So all of the random things would have some weight value that would slow them down by X movement speed.

As for rewards, they would vary on different factors. Such as (time to collect X souls * 0.5) = exp, total items looted * 50 = gold, and # of souls freed * 0.05 % bonus gold and exp. Something like that.

Okay, so remove, the last three paragraphs, and the last sentence of the first paragraph.

With the task of gathering souls, they have to go through different puzzles to get each soul.

One can be a maze puzzle, where they have to dodge guards, farmers, ect. And the player would have a limited sight range.

Another could be a logic puzzle. Such as the lucky box puzzle in chapter 1.

And the next one could be like "pick one door" kind of puzzle. So there would be two paths, and one leads to a soul, and the other loops on it's(sends the player back to the start).

Then another could be a jigsaw puzzle. For this they could have been "shrunken" and have to unlock a lock, so they have to push the "pins" into the correct spot.
