Hey, love the campaign. But I seem to be having a bit of trouble with some of the bosses. I think my campaign's glitching or something, because during some boss fights some of the special effects won't load for spells. For example, in chapter 2 on the elite boss. I would just see my character just die for no reason, and I was thinking the boss was just broken. But when I looked for guides, it turns out there was supposed to be special effects indicating for me to get the hell out of an area. I eventually just quit this boss since I'm not spending honor points on lives. But now I'm on chapter 5 on the epic boss, and my problem here is, I'm stuck on phase 2 of the boss. Apparently when he disappears lots of green energy should come at one of my heroes, but all I see is my hero dying after he vanishes. And when he uses his channeling spell he does the animation and the voodoo aura around him, but theses no effects indicating explosions north east west, and south of him like a guide said. I could probably kill him now that I know what to do when he vanishes or channels. But I think this might happen again with one of the bosses, any ideas how I could fix this? Sorry about the wall of text, and thanks in advance.

tl:dr special effects for some instant kill boss spells will not appear on my computer.

It sounds more like a bug. If you can't see the attacks coming, you can't avoid them(obviously) and it looks like it's the boss' special event attacks, so a bug it's more than possible.

On a side note I tried the boss when I knew his spells and it really didn't help, he vanished and I ran around and then stopped when he reappeared and then died. So I don't know if I can beat him with no effect indicators.

Edit: I just remembered another problem I faced, in chapter 3 of the campaign during the invisible path with the blooming yellow and blue things, I could not see them so I had to open the campaign and use it to find my way through.

As I recall also in chapter 3, I saw these blue and yellow things and then took a break and loaded my save. And thats when they were gone, I think these missing special effects might have something to do with loading the campaign and them not working. As in Chapter 2, and 5 I couldn't finish them in one sitting so both I had to reload. And in Chapter 3, I could almost finish it in one sitting so i got up to a point where special effects are shown and on reloading they were gone.

Sorry again about the long wall of text.
tl:dr - Loading the game might have something to do with these special effects?

Probably yes. It also happens in a lot of other WC3 maps.
Along the shore the cloud waves break,
The twin suns sink behind the lake,
The shadows lengthen
In Carcosa.

Strange is the night where black stars rise,
And strange moons circle through the skies,
But stranger still is
Lost Carcosa.

Songs that the Hyades shall sing,
Where flap the tatters of the King,
Must die unheard in
Dim Carcosa.

Song of my soul, my voice is dead,
Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed
Shall dry and die in
Lost Carcosa.

It's lost for good. Get over it.

How can I get, say, 10 luck points in chapter one? I'm guessing I have to finish the game at **** and start over, or something? Also, could someone give me a link to a thread where the lucky box content is described? I found it last time I played, but now I can't locate it.

Also, the Holy Cross seems to fail to work. I died at the very beginning of chapter 1 twice to see what happens. First, I lost my backup life, then I just lost my actual life. And the Cross is supposed to save me every 5 minutes.

To obtain 10 lucks in chapter 1 you would need to play through the entire campaign and get all the permanent luck points that are transferrable through Give Ups.

So if I start the game four times, and each time pick bonus luck at the begining, and then give up as soon as I reach chapter 4, that will do it? What other ways are there to increace permanent luck? I found couple of Lucky Clovers, but I'm not sure about their permanency.
Also, will I benefit from Evil Eyes somewhere later in the game?
Oh, and is it possible to check the end-game bonuses without ending the game? Does it matter how much Game Points I gather? And do I have to wait for Aero to finish the campaign to obtain this bonus, or just complete chapter 8, and the save will automaticaly generate?

  • You will be able to obtain permanent luck points in chapter 7 and beyond.
  • Some items can only be obtained when you have a specific number of luck points. Evil Eyes help you achieve just that.
  • At the moment there is no end game bonuses of any kind.

Can I clarify that lucky clovers will NOT be permanent through give ups etc, they are active when you hold them in an inventory only.

However as doom pointed out you can find permanent luck points on the ground in chapter 7 and beyond (is there one after the nightmare puzzle bottom right of chapter 6?) which will stay through give ups.

So one tactic is to play till chapter 4 and keep giving up there, another is to play till the end and find the permanent luck points and give up after those. A third option if you can get hold of an unprotected version of the map, is to cheat and edit one of the chapters to have a bunch of permanent luck points on the floor for you to collect, but let's not talk about that one... :)

I may be mistaken, but i'm pretty sure 10 permanent luck is obtainable with two complete play-throughs in the current version.
Ch.5, 6 and 7 all give 1 permanent luck point each and you get two in Ch. 8. play through the game twice and you should start with 10 permanent luck in chapter 1 on the third attempt. this assumes you got all the permanent luck points in all the chapters where they are available and did not use any permanent luck granting start packs in any of the play-throughs.

Just out of curiosity, why are you wanting to start with 10 permanent luck in chapter 1 anyway?

the only real use I have for evil eyes is to ensure you can bring down your luck in chapter 8 to get the greater magic ball to add to your stack.

Interesting point about the holy cross. i really only got this for the parry CK and for the gold it gives (200 i think). my recommendation is aegis shield (for the magic dmg) or family picture (unless you have fradz or galeoth getting a perm luck point starter pack). 2 luck (the 2nd point coming from the clover in ch.1) allows you to get flame bracelet which is IMO probably the best item to have in chapter 1 (makes a huge difference in all your boss fights).
