Chapter 8 Elite Boss
« on: May 20, 2012, 03:49:20 pm »
Hi,

I am currently playing chapter 8 and have difficulties with the Elite Boss : "The Healer".

As far as I understood the Boss, the fight is divided. At first you are fighting him in his Tree-Form
and this is OK. Not very hard, and easily done.
But afterwards he turns into an infernal and there my trouble starts.

How can you defete him in this form. I used -give up once from chapter 7, so I got enough gold and built myself pretty good synthesis items. But still I cannot do anything against this nasty pile of stones.
There is so much to do (Avoid mini-infernals impact, kill mini-infernals, take care of this life-leech attack) that I never have time to really deal damage. And then time passes by, and eventually I make a mistake and die. But even if I fight long, I just fail to inflict real damage on the boss.

So my question is:Am I just too stupid, or is this healer really a little hard ?
And if I am too stupid, I would be glad if someone, who was more successful l than I was, explains me, how he managed to beat that infernal.

thanks in advance
TTH

masterthread pl0x
Along the shore the cloud waves break,
The twin suns sink behind the lake,
The shadows lengthen
In Carcosa.

Strange is the night where black stars rise,
And strange moons circle through the skies,
But stranger still is
Lost Carcosa.

Songs that the Hyades shall sing,
Where flap the tatters of the King,
Must die unheard in
Dim Carcosa.

Song of my soul, my voice is dead,
Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed
Shall dry and die in
Lost Carcosa.

No, I want this to be an own topic. I actually requested this to see what others think.

It is best to keep this own thread so no other things can mess the discussion.

Topic reopened.

Hello,

In the beginning I had problems with this boss also. You really must have the right gear in order to defeat him. The problem according to my opinion is that he summons to many infernals which all cast this green nova upon dying which inflicts a lot of damage. Maybe it would be helpful if he would not cast the infernals that often, so that you actually had some time to deal with the real boss in the meantime.

There are three ways to reduce:

1) Infernals drops less
2) The event creates less infernals
3) Event happens less

Which one is it?

Hi, in the meantime I also managed to defeat this Boss.

My solution was pretty simple: As manstein already stated, the exploding Infernals are the greatest problem, so I decided to not care about them and  just focused all damage on the Boss.
Worked really fine for me, because Fradz healed the damage from the infernals with Life-Stealer, Phodom
just survived with ShieldOfFire and Maximilian and Galeoth was running around all the time in order to avoid dying.

So my realisation was that the Infernals are impossible to control,
they are more like an unexplicit time limit.
Your only option is to kill the Boss, before too many infernals came down.
(If anyone managed to defeat the infernals faster than they came, please tell me how)

So, I would suggest you let the Event, which summons an infernal, happen less often, so you have a chance of handling the infernals, instead of having to ignore them.

PS: Of course it would also help, if CombatKings and Espers were working in Chapter 8.

Hello,

I would opt for that the event when he summons four infernals would happen less often. The casting from the sky can be easily avoided and one to two lnernals regularly can be handled. Make it like the cast of the four Infernals is really a special move, which happens not that often.

Hmm.

Actually I don't want to make less events.

I could make few other things:

- No Infernals from the sky will come if there are more than 3 Infernals.
- No Infernals from the sky will come if EVENT is on(infernal event that is 30 seconds long and after that the boss starts to fight normally)
- Also I could create third and fourth event so that the chance of infernal event drops. Any ideas?

Hello,

if you do not want to reduce the number of events, I would opt for your second option that during a summoning event no infernals would come from the sky.

Also you might want to consider lowering the damage one single dying infernal causes just a small bit as I think the damage is quite considerable.

I was actually thinking to do all three options.

I could also reduce the damage, it is now 4500/6000/7500/9000 damage within 500 range.

But I need ideas for new events.
