Galeoth starting packs and Ch3 Epic
« on: September 17, 2012, 01:13:27 am »
Hi everyone!

There is a balance issue that I believe is damaging the game experience, at least IMO something should be done about it.

Regarding: Chapter 3 Epic Boss and Two Golems
Problem: On ****/EXTREME they have too much HP, and the only way to beat them (within the time limit) is if you choose the Ice Crystal starting pack for Galeoth

So if anyone wants to play extreme and wants to complete that boss area, they can only use Ice Crystal and a full-nuke build. Which is obviously a problem! There should be a way to beat them using some other starting packs too. Variety is what it's all about.

So what should be done to fix this? Suggestions are welcome!

My solution: (Bear in mind the change shouldn't make it too easy with Ice Crystal  builds) Remove their armor a lot and give them low HP but really high magic resistance. That way the way to beat them depends much more on your physical hits than on magic damage. So they can be balanced for any starting pack (because no pack increases physical dps).

What does everyone think?

Hamza

After further testing, I am indeed wrong.

It IS possible to defeat the boss area using a very specific strategy if you go full-on debuff Galeoth.

You need to use ice elementals to distract the twin healing Golems to keep them apart for long enough to reduce their HP to almost 0, and against the epic boss you need to use the Esper along with the first spellbook spell that absorbs damage. And you need to stand the esper in the corner so it doesn't die to the very random nukes. With the right timing you can get the esper to last through two full uses of the damage absorption spellbook spell (can't remember what it is called) and take off about 80% of the Epic Bosses HP.

The sign of a great game is where different strategies can beat it if you have the skill to execute them :D
